•Thick and Solid Silver Plaque with intricate chased motifs of Mandala in high relief
•This Mandala, a schematized representation of the cosmos, may have been used for meditation purpose
•It contains, around a centre motif of the Great Mythical Tortoise Rubal, which lays on its back, an astrological wheel over its chest, the Buddhist representation of the twelve animals of the twelve years cycle Zodiac
•Nine magical numbers are chased in the middle arrayed as a magic square said to have been inscribed by Manjushri. The petals which surround this are also decorated with eight trigrams used in Chinese divination
•Vertical stacks of protective talismanic symbols and objects are featured on both side, of which we can recognise:
•The Vajra, the Phurpa or ritual dagger, the Khatvanga or tantric staff, the thighbone trumpet, the curved knife and chopper, a trishula, etc. Topped by the letter Ohm
•Above, the all-powerful ten syllables of the Kalachakra mantra and an enlightenment Stupa Offering Altar with its Mount Meru-like base surround another domed Stupa
•On the bottom right a rider and his elephant amongst mountains and foliage
•Excellent patina and condition
•Comes with a Plexiglas stand not featured on pic.
